Vadodara prepares for Krishna Janmashtami with Ayodhya-inspired decor

Preparations for Krishna Janmashtami in Vadodara, Gujarat are in full swing. Local puja shops are well stocked with decorative items for Krishna statues. The trend this year is to decorate Krishna Lalla in a style similar to the Ram Lalla of Ayodhya. Complete sets are available in stores.

A local shopkeeper said, “Devotees can adorn their deity as they wish. There are numerous decorative items available, including crowns, tilaks, earrings, bracelets and more. This year, sets resembling the statue of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya are particularly popular.”

“There are also jewellery including pearls, zardozi, karachali and gold and silver pieces,” the shopkeeper added. Despite the higher prices this year, the market is very busy. A customer, Barsha Parikh, noted, “The best thing about coming here is the wide range of decorative items. So, one can easily find everything one needs to adorn Krishna Lalla.”

Meanwhile, Ayodhya will also celebrate Krishna Janmashtami in a grand manner, with markets decorated for the occasion with cradles, swings, garments and ornaments. This is the first Janmashtami after the completion of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Celebrations will take place across the country on August 26, with major festivals in Mathura and Vrindavan, where Krishna spent his youth.
