Green Day and 7-Eleven announce an exclusive blend of the band’s Punk Bunny Coffee

Green Day teams up with 7-Eleven for an exciting coffee collaboration.

To commemorate two special milestones — the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s breakthrough album Dookie and the 60th anniversary of 7-Eleven, the inventor of the concept of freshly brewed coffee in to-go cups – the rock band has created a special anniversary blend of their Punk Bunny Coffee, which will be sold exclusively in the US branches of 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes.

The Anniversary Blend has bold citrus notes with undertones of rich stone fruit, rounded out with a warm cocoa flavor and a hint of spice, creating “a layered coffee experience,” according to a press release. In addition to the limited-edition offering, Green Day will bring its Fair Trade-certified coffee to 7-Eleven with packaged blends and K-Cups of Punk Bunny’s Sound Check and Last Ride In roasts.

Fans can also pick up a limited edition Punk Bunny-themed collector’s refill cup at 7-Eleven and Speedway stores while supplies last. The two companies have also developed exclusive merchandise – including co-branded t-shirts, hoodies, hats, tote bags, buttons and stickers – that will be sold through 7-Eleven’s online store, 7Collection.

Green Day’s collaboration with 7-Eleven is fitting, as the band members – Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt – were regular customers of the supermarket when they were taking their first steps on the music scene in Berkeley, California.

“When we first came together as a band back in high school, our hometown 7-Eleven was our local hangout,” Green Day frontman Armstrong, 52, said in a statement. “As we celebrate the anniversaries of two of our biggest albums, it’s fitting that our coffee company, Punk Bunny, is now available in 7-Eleven stores.”

In addition to the 30th anniversary of the publication of Dookie in 1994 – with hits like “When I Come Around” and “Basket Case” – Green Day also celebrates the 20th anniversary of its American Idiot Album with the release of a new deluxe edition of the record, which includes unearthed demos and live performances.

“In the summer of 2004, Green Day and Rob Cavallo went into the studio to American Idiotunsure what the future would bring,” the band wrote on Instagram on August 9, announcing the upcoming release. “American Idiot was developed in response to the daily media bombardment that spreads it far and wide, leaving us numb and tired – full of themes that are still relevant today, 20 years later.”
