Alicia Silverstone caused a stir after she apparently unknowingly ate a “poisonous” fruit.
The “Clueless” star posted a clip on TikTok on Monday showing her eating a mysterious berry she picked in a garden in England.
“I discovered something and I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help,” said Alicia, 47, before holding up a small orange berry to the camera.
“I just bit into it because it was lying on the street,” the actress continued, explaining that she originally thought the fruit might be a tomato.
After tasting the fruit, Alicia concluded that it was “definitely not” a tomato, and told the camera as she took a second bite that she didn’t think she “should be eating that.”
“It’s almost like a bell pepper,” she continued. “Does anyone know what it is? I don’t know. Someone has to tell me.”
The Crush actress captioned the video, “What the f*** is this? I’m in England and I can’t figure it out.”
Concerned fans immediately wrote to the actress in the comments section that she may have eaten a “poisonous” Jerusalem artichoke, also known as a Christmas cherry.
“OMG NO!! Jerusalem artichoke is a very poisonous nightshade. Hope you’re OK,” commented one fan, while another social media user warned that eating the fruit “can be fatal.”
