Speaking to Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on his podcast “What Do You Wanna Talk About?”, Orton compared Cena to his former Legacy faction members and expressed how much he appreciated earning his respect, especially since some of his peers did not value him to the same extent.

“I think even though I trusted Triple H, Ric Flair and all those guys, the camaraderie between me and John was just cool. I don’t know if those guys respected me at the time, I think John respected me and I think he respected me for certain things that I could do in the ring and just feeling that respect from him made me have that trust in him that I could trust him to lead the way. And I could trust him that everything he told me was gold and he told me how to do it.”

The last time Orton and Cena fought each other was on February 7, 2017 on an episode of WWE SmackDown, where “The Legend Killer” lost.
