Men’s golf announces fall program

QUEENS, NY Head Coach of the St. John’s Men’s Golf Team Phil Wildermuth announced its fall schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

The Red Storm will compete in four events during the fall months, culminating in the final round of The Doc Gimmler at Bethpage Black and a trip to Hawaii. The team is expected to return as BIG EAST champions in 2024. Chen Peichengwho is going into his final season.

The Johnnies will begin the 2024-25 season by hosting the Doc Gimmler, their annual home event, on Sept. 16 and 17. The first two rounds will be played on the Bethpage State Park Red Course. The third and final round on Tuesday, Sept. 17, will be played on the world-famous Bethpage Black Course. The tournament will return to the site of three major championships for the first time in 28 years.

Bethpage Black will serve as the host venue for the 2025 Ryder Cup. On July 8, it was officially announced that the St. John’s alumnus and Hall of Famer Keegan Bradley will be the captain of the US team.

St. John’s will be on the road for the first time when it travels to GreatHorse for the UConn Invitational, competing in the three-day event in Hampden, Massachusetts, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. The Red Storm took home the team title at the 2022 event.

For the first time, the team will participate in the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison tournament will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

St. John’s will end its fall schedule on a tropical note when it heads to Hawaii for the Kapolei Invitational on Oct. 29-31. It will be the first tournament for the Red Storm outside the continental United States since March 7, 2012, when they competed in the Caribbean Intercollegiate in Ponce, PR. The Johnnies will play the 54-hole event at Kapolei Golf Course.

The spring portion of the 2024-25 schedule will be announced at a later date on RedStormSports.com.
