If you’ve just decided to start a family, the whole TTC (trying to conceive) phase can be quite exciting – but also full of uncertainty. When will you get pregnant? And when would your baby actually arrive?
All other factors being equal, there’s a good chance you’re having a summer baby, as August is the most popular birthday month, followed by July, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2023. Here’s more about which months have the most (and least) birthdays.

In the United States, summer birthdays reign supreme. August is the month with the most birthdays, with over 322,000 births. (That’s a lot of Virgos and Leos!) July comes in second, with around 311,000 newborns – that means over 10,000 little ones are born every day during the summer.
Counting back nine months, October and November are the most popular times to get pregnant. Researchers suspect that seasonal factors (such as temperature, humidity and vitamin D levels) as well as cultural factors (such as the holiday season and more time spent indoors) play a role here.
Overall, more babies are born in the second half of the year than in the first. October and September take third and fourth place respectively.
What is the least common birthday month?
Not surprisingly, February is the shortest and therefore least common birthday month, as it has only 28 days (or 29 in a leap year). In February 2023, only 270,844 babies were born. (Preliminary data from the CDC shows that there were 10,000 extra babies in the last February that had a leap day!)
April has only 30 days and is the second rarest month, so if your due date is in February or April, you can consider yourself a member of an exclusive club.
