Green River and Pinnacle have an exciting duel *Photo gallery*

The Green River Pirates baseball team traveled to Price to face local rivals, the Pinnacle Panthers. The game began with Green River taking an early lead, scoring in the first three innings, leaving the Panthers scoreless. With the score at 7-0 in favor of the Pirates, the Panthers mounted a major comeback in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Pinnacle had runners touch home plate for eight runs, giving them an 8-7 lead early in the fifth. After some great defensive plays on both sides of the ball, the game remained the same until the sixth. Green River’s bats started again, scoring three runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh.

The score was then tied 15-8 and the Panthers had their last chance to stay alive. They were able to score two runs but could not catch up and the Pirates went home with a 15-10 win for the first victory of the two-game series.

For the Pirates team, Jarrett Guerrera had a batting average of .667, with a double and two runs scored. Cristian Mendoza brought in three RBIs, along with a double and a run scored. Jason Hernandez also had a double and also brought in three RBIs and a run scored. Christian Venzor finished the game with an RBI for his team.

Antonio Macias had a solid offensive day, batting .1,000, scoring four runs and stealing six bases. Mauriciuo Hernandez had a game-high double and touched home plate three times. Rolando Anguiano finished his night with a double and two runs scored. Gabriel Quintana scored two runs and an RBI. Jesus Escalante had two RBIs for his team to help secure the win.

For the Panthers, Bryson Shumway had two RBIs and scored two runs. Brody Howell went two for two with a walk and a hit by pitch and scored an RBI and a run for his team. Carlos Alcon also scored a run and scored an RBI. Riley Davis batted .667 and scored a run. Dominick Vigil finished with an RBI and a run.

The teams will meet again in Green River on September 13th for their final game of the regular season. Before that, Green River will play the Altamont Longhorns and the Pinnacle Panthers will face Bryce Valley on August 28th.
