Kenny Chesney fans in Foxborough start the party early with tailgating

FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Kenny Chesney calls Gillette Stadium home this weekend.

The country superstar will perform three nights in Foxborough for the first time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The concerts will not only be Chesney’s 22nd, 23rd and 24th appearances at Gillette, but also the final stop on his Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour.

Despite heavy traffic and numerous road closures and restrictions, the party for the fans could begin on Friday with the first tailgating round of the weekend.

“We’ve got some steak tips, we’ve got some burgers, we’ve got chicken, we’re ready to go,” said Scott Rudman of Oxford as he manned the grill. “As long as we’re out with friends and grilling, you can’t go wrong.”

A group of women from towns along the south coast brought a “snacklebox,” a fishing box filled with various snacks.

“First the food, then the artists and maybe a few cocktails in between,” one woman told WBZ NewsRadio.

Dave from Springfield had no problem admitting why he went to a Kenny Chesney show: “He’s my crush.”

“He was always obsessed with him for some reason,” laughed his wife Laurie.

Meanwhile, Allison flew in from Woodstock, Connecticut, for music, food and good vibes. She’s been to half a dozen Chesney concerts and loves it when he plays Gillette.

“It’s a bigger venue,” Allison explained. “You can play your music and join in the party. You’re kind of at the concert before it even starts.”
