FARGO – Quarterback of the Sheyenne from West Fargo Kaden Olson threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more in the first half to lead the No. 3-seeded Mustangs to a 39-12 win over Williston in North Dakota Class 3A football action at Essentia Health Mustang Stadium on Friday, Aug. 23.
The Mustangs took a 36-0 lead at halftime and secured a clear victory in the season opener for both teams. Cooper Bryant had two touchdown catches, both from Bryant.
Olson capped off his strong first half with a 9-yard touchdown run that gave Sheyenne a 36-0 lead with 41 seconds left in the second quarter. Mustangs defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak had a quarterback sack for a safety in the first quarter to score the first goal.
In Class 1A, defending state champion and No. 1 Kindred earned a 13-6 home victory over No. 2 Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison. Kindred quarterback Jake Starcevic He ran for 130 yards and a touchdown and also threw for 80 yards to lead the Vikings.
Bismarck Legacy built a 14-point halftime lead and cruised to a 28-6 victory over the West Fargo Packers in Class 3A. West Fargo’s Ian Skari caught a touchdown pass.
