The athletics competitions at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games have lived up to expectations. That was the case on Saturday night, when the women’s 100-meter hurdles ended in a photo finish, similar to the men’s 100-meter race earlier in the week. After a quick review, it was clear that US hurdler Masai Russell was the winner by a hundredth of a second.

Russell’s charge to the finish line earned her a time of 12.33, just ahead of France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela’s 12.34. It was a hugely dramatic end to a thrilling race and Russell was understandably delighted.
