Espinal-Elvir scores his first college goal in loss to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Wright State men’s soccer team led 2-0 at halftime but fell to Bowling Green University 3-2 on Friday night.

Wright State (0-1-0) was the first to get on the scoreboard, Edwin Espinal-Elvir scored his first college goal in the 23rd minute with assists from Roman Kedgley And Gabe Gotting. Felix Ezekwuka followed and scored a goal from a penalty in the 28th minute.

Bowling Green (1-0-0) took the lead in the second half when Trace Terry scored in the 49th minute, followed by an own goal in the 56th minute and the final goal of the night when Bennett Painter put the ball in the net in the 84th minute.

The Raiders had more shots on goal than the Falcons (8-5) in the first half, but were outscored 11-2 in the second half. Of Wright State’s 10 shots, four were on goal. Ezekwuka was the best player with four shots, two on goal, followed by Pete Schneider two shots. Espinal-Elvir and Henry Hutchison each had one shot on goal. Alesandro Malterer saved four shots and allowed three goals.
