Obituary for Joseph Gerald Green in Sault Ste. Marie at EUP News

Joseph Gerald Green, affectionately called Joe, passed away on August 20, 2024 in St.
Ignace, Michigan, at the age of 81. Joe was born in Cheboygan, Michigan and spent his early years
worked in iron processing before moving into excavation and construction and working
as a painter on the Mackinac Bridge. He eventually gave up his job as a prison guard, a
A role that crowned a varied professional life characterized by commitment and resilience.

Joe was a beloved husband to his wife Carmon of 24 years and a cherished father and
Grandfather. He leaves behind his children Joe and Tiffany Green, Brian and Linda Green, Kim
and Dennis Murphy, Crystal and Mike McGrath; together with twelve grandchildren and fourteen
Great-grandchildren. Also a special niece, Becky Crowder.

Joe’s mother Grace King, his father Steven Green and his stepfather Mike predeceased him.
King; three brothers, a sister and son, William “Bill” Green.

Outside of his professional and family life, Joe was known for his lively personality and hobbies.
He was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge, where he held many positions, including
position as governor, which reflects his commitment to the community. Joe had a passion for
Singing and yodeling, talents that brought joy and laughter to many people around him. His love for
The restoration of vintage cars and old tractors was well known among his friends and family, and he
I have spent many happy hours working on these projects.
Joe’s life was characterized by active participation, characterized by the love for his dogs Catsy, Coco and
Maggie and a general enthusiasm for making people around him smile. His legacy will be carried on, not only
through his family, but also through the many lives he touched with his humor and kindness. He
will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A memorial mass will be announced and held at a later date.
