Korn launches fan art contest to celebrate 30th anniversary

Remember back in 1999 when Korn held an art contest to choose the album cover for their fourth album? Problems and for a while there were four different covers for the album that you could buy. My crude sketch of a cat driving a jeep wasn’t chosen as one of the album covers and I’m bitter to this day. But I still went out and bought one of the different covers because I wanted to be special. Then my CD broke after about a week because those things were made of cheap plastic. Well, the band is doing it again with another fan art contest.

Korn has launched another fan art contest and this time the art is to celebrate 30 years of Korn’s legacy and will be featured on their upcoming North American tour. You know what? I’ll just let Korn explain it for you by saying what they had to say on Instagram:

“Our fans are so important to us and we are excited to announce our KoRn Fan Art Contest. Show us your interpretation of 30 years of our music, art, energy, message and meaning in visual form. You can be inspired by a KoRn song lyric, an album, a show memory, a video or anything else that means something to you.
Our personally selected grand prize winners will have their artwork displayed in the VIP area and throughout the reception area at all shows on our North American tour, have their artwork signed by us, and receive two VIP tickets to a KoRn concert of their choice. We can’t wait to see your submissions.”

I don’t know if that’s as cool as seeing your own artwork on an alternate cover of the band’s album, but it’s still a pretty cool context. The contest runs through September 5th, so get out your colored pencils and send Korn your best drawing of a cat playing a seven-string guitar while wearing Adidas. Oh, that’s good, I’ll submit that.

In the meantime, check out the full list of dates for the upcoming North American tour with Gojira and Spiritbox below.
