New label introduced for ready-to-eat mangoes and avocados



Ready-to-eat, pre-ripened products with a longer shelf life, better taste and less environmental impact. This is the promise of the new product line that the Staay Food Group has introduced under its own Eat & Care label. The first products in this new line are mangos and avocados. Staay is working with the Belgian company Special Fruit to supply these products. Thanks to its years of experience in ripening fruit into ready-to-eat (RTE) products, the specialist from Hoogstraten offers an excellent addition to the Staay Food Group’s existing expertise in the field of exotic fruits.

More freshness, longer shelf life
The fruits ripen in airtight cells using the new “soft ripening process”. AI software technology controls the ripening process individually. This means that each batch of fruit ripens more homogeneously and naturally. This ensures a better freshness experience than with conventionally ripened fruits. In addition, the shelf life is increased, which further reduces potential yield and thus food waste. Since the ripening process is faster and more controlled, it also saves energy.

“Particular attention is paid to quality and sustainability when growing Eat & Care products. Our producers in the various countries of origin are carefully selected for this purpose. Eat & Care products are therefore not only tasty, but are also produced sustainably,” says Staay.
