The late summer heat is approaching

A mild morning is underway in southeastern Wisconsin. Inland temperatures have dropped to 10 to 15 degrees, while lakeshore temperatures are in the 15s. As south and southwest winds build over the next few days, even more warm air will move into the state.

Today it’s sunny again, but there are also a few clouds. Maximum temperatures are between 27 and 30 degrees, which is close to the average for the end of August. By tomorrow the temperatures will continue to rise to 27 to 30 degrees.

As the high pressure system moves east, warming will continue. Storm Team 4 is monitoring rain and storm chances Saturday night into Sunday morning. Isolated showers and storms may develop over southwest Wisconsin around and after sunset Saturday and move into southeast Wisconsin overnight. Severe weather is unlikely.

Aside from a sudden shower on Sunday, the forecast for the start of next week looks dry. Highs will rise above 30 degrees on Sunday and fall below 35 degrees on Monday. Heat index readings could reach 38 degrees on Monday, especially away from Lake Michigan.

Temperatures will moderate until the middle of next week, but will then return to normal by Wednesday or Thursday.
