Trump sticks to helicopter story: Claims flight records prove encounter with Willie Brown

Donald Trump has vehemently reiterated his claim that he was involved in an emergency landing of a helicopter carrying Willie Brown. Although Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco, denies this, the Republican presidential candidate told the New York Times that he has “flight records” that back up his claim.

On August 9, 2024, Trump, who is running for president again, arrived for a campaign rally in Bozeman, Montana. During the rally, he reported a near-death experience during a helicopter ride with Brown, although it appeared that Trump had confused Brown with Jerry Brown, the former governor of California. Jerry Brown’s spokesman denied the report, stating, “There was no emergency landing and no discussion about Kamala Harris.”

The situation escalated when 95-year-old former Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden told Politico that he was the one on the helicopter with Trump. “Willie is the little black guy who lives in San Francisco,” Holden said, adding, “I’m a big black guy who lives in Los Angeles.”

In addition, Harris’ 2021 biography, Kamala’s Way: An American Life, revealed that Trump sent his private plane to transport Kamala Harris and Willie Brown from Boston to New York City in 1994. Harris and Brown had a romantic relationship in the 1990s.

Despite the confusion surrounding his story, Trump insists he has solid evidence to support his version of events. Although he claims he has “flight records” confirming the helicopter flight, he has not yet provided that proof. Trump also mentioned that the helicopter made an emergency landing “in a field” and threatened to sue the media outlet over its coverage of his recent press conference at Mar-a-Lago. This is not the first time Trump has told the helicopter story; it was also included in his 2023 book, “Letters to Trump,” where he described the emergency landing as a “somewhat frightening” experience for both him and Brown.
