The Bojack Horseman creative team is reuniting for a new Netflix adult animated series. To make a long story short:

As BoJack Horseman’s childhood hero Secretariat once said, “All that exists is what lies before us.” And with Netflix’s anthropomorphic, existential animated series for adults celebrating its 10th anniversary yesterday, we now know exactly what to expect from the team that will bring us BoJack Horseman. As the streamer himself revealed, BoJack Creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg is teaming up again with Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company and animation studio ShadowMachine to bring a new adult animation offering to Netflix. No, it’s not a real series by BoJack‘s show-within-the-show Fooling around (we still have hope!), but Long story shorta family saga that has the potential to be just as surreal and profound as its predecessor about horses.

Bob-Waksberg will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer of the show, his third post-BoJack Project that previously worked on Prime Video’s Timey Wimey animation Undone and written on animated sitcom Tuca and Bertie. The characteristically playful and provocative logline for the toon specialist’s latest reads as follows: “Long story short is an animated comedy about a family across time. It’s about the history they share, the inside jokes, the old wounds. If you’ve ever had a mother, father, sibling, partner or child, this show is for you – and by the way, would it kill you to call them?”

“It’s really exciting and an honor to be back doing what I love most: writing glowing quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications,” Bob-Waksberg said in, well, a quote for a press release to Hollywood trade publications. “Who says you can’t go home again?!”

We don’t yet know any plot details for Bob Waksberg’s latest film, nor who will be among the voice actors bringing the animator’s family saga to life (BoJackThe cast led by Will Arnett, Aaron Paul and Alison Brie set the bar pretty high, but anything from the creator of one of the 100 greatest TV shows of all time grabs our attention. And with Long story short The film is scheduled to hit our screens sometime in 2025, so the hype train starts right here – TOOT TOOT!
