Now, in addition to conventional control cabinets, customers worldwide can also purchase the SIVACON 8MF1 industrial control cabinet series, which is made from 100% scrap metal from well-known suppliers in Europe and is manufactured using wind energy.

This step supports Siemens’ sustainability goals in the areas of decarbonization and resource efficiency as set out in the DEGREE framework. The company is pursuing a science-based decarbonization target of 1.5°C.

The production process of the SIVACON 8MF1 control cabinets reduces CO2 -Emissions by 70% compared to conventional steel, which is typically produced in a blast furnace from iron ore and coal.

The 70% reduction corresponds to a saving of 308 kg CO2 per housing unit. Steel production currently accounts for eight percent of global emissions. As demand for steel continues to rise, it is essential to decarbonize its production.

The offer has the same technical characteristics and functions as traditional steel cabinets. It allows larger industrial customers to increase their CO2 emissions and come closer to achieving their sustainability goals.
