ESPN Events announces bracket for 2024 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic

ESPN Events has announced the matchups for the 2024 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, which will be held on December 22, 23 and 25. The eight-team tournament will feature 12 games played over four days at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. This year marks the 15th edition of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.

The participating teams are Charlotte (American Athletics), College of Charleston (Coastal Sports Association), Loyola Chicago (Atlantic 10), Murray State (Missouri Valley), Nebraska (Big Ten), Oakland (Horizon), State of Oregon (West Coast) and tournament organizer Hawaii (Great West).

Matchup Notes

  • Oregon State and College of Charleston, a team in the 2024 NCAA tournament, will meet on the court for the very first time.

  • Loyola Chicago vs. Oakland are two teams that finish as conference winners. Loyola shared the A-10 regular season title and Oakland won the Horizon League tournament before defeating Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

  • Nebraska and Murray State face each other for the first time in 24 years. The Cornhuskers are coming off a 23-win season that saw them make the NCAA Tournament. The Racers have made the NCAA Tournament 18 times in total and are looking to make it back for the first time since 2022.

  • Hawaii, which has won eight straight seasons, and Charlotte, which won 19 games last season, are playing each other for only the second time, having first met in 1998.

Previous tournament winners of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic include USC (2009, 2017), Butler (2010), Kansas State (2011), Arizona (2012), Iowa State (2013), George Washington (2014), Oklahoma (2015), San Diego State (2016), TCU (2018), Houston (2019), Vanderbilt (2021), Hawai’i (2022) and Nevada (2023).
