It doesn’t seem that long ago that Tom Brady was holding a Super Bowl trophy on the field with his children.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion last won with the Buccaneers in 2021 before retiring two seasons later.
Fans got a glimpse of how time flies when Brady wished his eldest son, John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan, a happy birthday on Instagram. In the heartfelt message, Brady shared “everything I love most about you.”

How old is Tom Brady’s son?
Brady’s son Jack turned 17 on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Jack is the eldest of three siblings and the only child Brady has with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
Jack was born in 2007, a year after Brady and Moynahan split. The star quarterback learned of Moynahan’s pregnancy just months after he started dating Gisele Bündchen.
“The next thing I knew, Bridget was pregnant with our son,” Brady told Howard Stern in 2020. “So that was a very special time… and it was challenging for me in many ways to grow up differently again. It was very hard for my wife to believe that she had fallen in love with this guy and now this guy’s ex-girlfriend is pregnant.”
Neither Brady nor Moynahan expected the pregnancy, but they took it in their stride and found a co-parenting solution. Bündchen stayed with Brady the entire time and was married to him for over 13 years before the couple divorced.
“Tom and I decided to raise a child together, and we both found partners who not only supported us in that process, but loved our child as if he were their own,” Moynahan told PEOPLE. “I don’t think you could ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love.”

Does Tom Brady’s son play football?
Brady’s son Jack plays football in high school. He is the quarterback on the team and takes after his father.
However, this was not always to be expected. Jack played a lot of sports as a child and even wanted to become a football player.
“I think (the kids) watch (soccer) because of their dad, but … my oldest son Jack really loves soccer,” Brady told PEOPLE in 2018. “He wants to be a soccer goalkeeper in the Olympics.”
It’s a great joy for Brady to watch his son play quarterback. It played a role in Brady not returning for another NFL season after his second retirement.
“I had so much fun going out and watching him play,” Brady said. “And I don’t care how good he is. I just love watching him and seeing him enjoy it with his friends. And, you know, the camaraderie at a young age.”
