Cline goes on a health tour through the valley

HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Congressman Ben Cline spent the last week touring healthcare facilities throughout Virginia’s Sixth District.

According to a press release from Cline’s communications director, Maggie Clemmons, the congressman stopped in the Harrisonburg area on Wednesday to visit Augusta Health in Fishersville and the nursing program at James Madison University.

The three-day health tour began Tuesday in Roanoke, Virginia’s Sixth District. It built on the momentum of Tuesday’s kickoff in Roanoke and visited the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House, Friendship Richfield Living, the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at the Virginia Tech Carilion Center, and the Clinic Center for Simulation, Research, and Patient Safety.

Cline traveled north through the Shenandoah Valley on Wednesday, visiting more health facilities, speaking with experts and reviewing the vital efforts of hospitals, clinics and organizations committed to providing quality health care to the community.

“The tour was a fantastic opportunity to connect with diverse individuals in the healthcare community and hear their important concerns and the concerns of their patients,” Cline said in the press release. “We are fortunate to have outstanding hospitals and dedicated providers in Virginia’s Sixth District. Visiting these facilities and speaking with healthcare workers gave me valuable insight to effectively advocate for their needs and those of their community. I am committed to ensuring our healthcare workers and their patients are heard in the policy arena.”

The tour ended Thursday in Winchester, where Cline met with people from Shenandoah University’s Health Professions School and representatives from Valley Health Winchester Medical Center.
