Dua Lipa continued her annual tradition of wearing eye-catching outfits on her big day on Thursday. She rang in her 29th birthday with pink and red balloons, a metallic mesh cover-up and a lemon-colored thong bikini. The pop sensation started her outfit with a tangerine-colored Gucci thong bikini. The matching pieces featured Gucci’s signature monogram print and her eye-catching gold “GG” hardware. On top of that, Dua lit up the party in a sheer, all-rhinestone minidress that she converted into a cover-up. She accessorized with a gold Cartier watch and a link chain, also by Gucci. She tied her hair up in a slicked-back bun. “29!!!! And life just keeps getting better,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for all the birthday wishes!! Love you guys.”
Always one to dress to the nines, Dua is known for pulling out all the stops to celebrate her birthday. And since her big day is at the end of August, the ‘La Vacanza’ queen can usually be found on a beach in Ibiza or Capri.
For her 28th birthday, Dua dressed like a 2000s raver girl. Again, she wore a monogrammed Gucci bra and accentuated her outfit with low-slung purple pants and a sheer neon bolero. The next day, she went a little more formal, wearing a low-cut red dress, which she paired with a heaping helping of vintage Chanel jewelry.
The year before, Dua’s birthday looks included everything from a runway look by Marc Jacobs to archive looks by Thierry Mugler. She wore an all-leather dress from the designer’s ’80s collections, featuring purple and pink flames.
Based on her track record over the past few years, Dua definitely has a lot more up her sleeve than that tangerine thong. She might even pull out something from her impressive designer archive to keep the party going.
