Red Sox News & Links: “Real Strong Chance” Trevor Story to play in 2024

Red Sox News & Links: “Real Strong Chance” Trevor Story to play in 2024

The era of rich Hill players is upon us, folks. Again. Hill will pitch for the WooSox tonight, a few days after throwing a bullpen to Kyle Teel, who is literally half Hill’s age. (Tara Sullivan, Boston Globe)

Would it be too much to ask that Hill return to form as quickly as Triston Casas? Yes! Probably! Given the ease with which Casas returned to the major league team after months off with a rib injury, one has to wonder if those mental swings really amounted to anything. (Julian McWilliams, Boston Globe)

Hopefully Trevor Story has also spent time swinging his head — along with catching grounders with his head, chasing pop-ups with his head and, uh, not tearing all the ligaments in his head. Because now we’re being told there’s a “really big chance” he’ll be back playing for the Boston Red Sox this season. (Lauren Campbell, MassLive)

However, Ceddanne Rafaela continues to swing the racket and catch the ball in real life. And yesterday he had one of his best all-around games of the year. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)

Rafaela has been an influential rookie in the Sox’s center field this year. Is there anyone else who fits that description? Chas Meidroth is being talked about as a possible new addition. (MLB.com)

Rafaela didn’t carry the Sox all by himself, though. Brennan Bernardino contributed what some consider to be the best of the season. (Rob Bradford, WEEI)
