the Green Louis Erard Petite Second Metropolis x The Horophile

the Green Louis Erard Petite Second Metropolis x The Horophile

A year ago, Louis Erard and watch influencer The Horophile (Amr Sindi) joined forces to create a special trilogy of the brand’s Petite Seconde, known as the Metropolis. Following the same Art Deco recipe, the latest Petite Seconde Metropolis boasts an attractive green dial and is available in a non-limited edition.

Since Manuel Emch took over the reins of Louis Erard, collaborations have become the brand’s hallmark. Louis Erard invites artists, watchmakers, artisans and design studios to leave their mark, offering original watches that don’t cost a fortune. Amr Sindi, known by his Instagram handle @The Horophile, is a well-known face in the watch scene and owns an eclectic watch collection. He has collaborated with Emch on many occasions and is a founding member of the indie brand Kollokium.

The elegant Art Deco style of this watch, or Neo-Déco as Emch and Sindi call the style, is beautifully captured on the dial with its series of concentric grooves or gadroons in the center and the special font chosen for the numerals printed on the brushed minute ring. Expanding on previous models with gray, salmon and tobacco dials, the new Petite Second Metropolis features a green dial with white numerals and the double circles that frame the minute ring and small seconds counter.

One of the Metropolis’s standout features are the hour and minute hands. Inspired by the stepped architecture of the Empire State Building, the famous Art Deco skyscraper of 1931, the hands are wider at the base and tapered at the ends. The small seconds counter is located at 6 o’clock and has a snail-shaped interior and a smaller skyscraper-style hand.

Identical to the previous trilogy, the new Metropolis has a polished 39mm stainless steel case in the Petite Seconde style. It is powered by an élaboré-quality automatic Sellita SW261-1 with a relatively short power reserve of 38 hours and a hacking seconds mechanism. The brand name and The Horophile are engraved on the case back, with no logos or inscriptions to ruin the elegant Art Deco dial.

The Louis Erard Petite Seconde Metropolis x The Horophile is fitted with a beige grained calf leather strap and a pin buckle. Unlike the previous models, which were limited to 59 pieces, this model is available from the permanent collection and retails at CHF 2,300For more information, visit louiserard.com.
