John M. Craig, 74, of Toronto, OH, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
John was born on December 19, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late John E. Craig and Elsie F. (Crabs) Fetty. He was also preceded in death by two stepsons-in-law, Michael Mercer and David Lippert.
He graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1969. John worked for Hancock Manufacturing in Toronto for over 30 years until the plant went out of business. He then worked for Koppers (Coke Plant) in Follansbee, WV until it eventually closed.
John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and worked tirelessly around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Iris H. (Wells) Craig, whom he married February 14, 1986; his stepchildren, Brent Febo of Santa Barbara, CA, Lorena Mercer of Wellsburg, WV, and Erin Lippert of Toronto; his sister, Laura Jean (Tony) Tiberio of Wintersville, OH; his niece, Christianne (Josh) Benton of Bloomingdale, OH; and six step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the JE Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, where John’s funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate and the funeral will be held at a time convenient for the family. www.jefosterfh.com
