A talented player like Matvei Michkov is exactly what John Tortorella and Danny Briere have been preaching and demanding over the past few seasons: “We need more top talent.” And that’s exactly what Michkov is: an elite talent who can take over a game in a flash.
It was clear that Michkov would join the Flyers. Michkov’s early arrival to North America may be due to his good relationship with current SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg, who left them out of the 25-man Russian national team roster. Rotenberg also had a big influence on Michkov being sent or loaned from SKA St. Petersburg to Sochi.
And lo and behold, Michkov arrived in Philadelphia as expected and has been training at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, New Jersey ever since.
Michkov will be signing autographs and taking pictures at Dynasty. They were able to sign Michkov, who will of course be coming to their store to draw customers. He’s a good catch and it’s Saturday, September 7th. Photo opportunities are $79, while an autograph is $99.
