Basement Light Productions presents the world premiere of I’m Going to Eat You Alive, a queer horror piece by Riley Elton McCarthy and directed by Brandon Urrutia, October 3-27 at Culture Lab LIC.

Roach, a geologist suffering from pica, documents his road trip through America in a van. When the anniversary of his mother’s death coincides with the unfortunate parole release of his ex-wife, who had buried her, it’s not just his thesis on “the mineral composition of America’s greatest national monuments” that is in jeopardy.

The cast includes Kai Justice Rosales (As You Like It at La Jolla Playhouse) as Roach, Alvin Christmas (The Brutes with Spit&Vigor) as August/Something Lurking, and Danielle Breitstein (Plague Play at IATI) as Ez/Voice of Mom. The creative team includes sound and projection design by Mark Alberto McKnight (Like Father, Like Salt at The Players Theatre) and scenic and graphic design by Michael Ruiz-del-Vizo (Randy’s Dandy Coaster Castle with Egg & Spoon Theatre).

i’m going to eat you alive was a semi-finalist at the 2023 Eugene O’Neill National Playwriting Conference and was developed as part of Workshop Theater’s Trans Affinity Intensive under the direction of Ashley Lauren Rogers and Al Parker. i’m going to eat you alive was first produced by Basement Light Productions at The Tank for a highly successful, sold-out workshop in September 2023. It was a finalist for the 2024 Emergence Residency at Culture Lab LIC, where it was then selected for the fall 2024 season.
