Alicia Silverstone is a famous actress, but it’s obvious that she was never a Girl Scout. If she had been, she would know not to eat strange fruits found in the wild.

However, according to a video on Instagram, she apparently did just that.

On Monday, the self-professed vegan star posted a video of a fruit she discovered in a garden on a London street. She wrote: “OK, I’ve discovered something I don’t know what it is and I need your help,” adding that it looked like a “Tomahto.”

“I just took a bite because it was lying on the street and we were debating whether it was a tomato. It’s definitely not one, because look at these leaves,” she said, pointing her cellphone camera through a fence.

Internet sleuths quickly identified the plant as Solanum pseudocapsicum, a plant that bears the poisonous fruits of the Jerusalem or Christmas cherry.

Silverstone later posted another one, writing: “Alive and well! Don’t worry… I didn’t swallow.”

Aside from the potentially dangerous practice of eating someone else’s fruit, others found it simply rude. “You think it’s respectful to take something from someone’s garden without their consent?? Where are your manners?” complained one respondent.
