Similar to their The Big Bang Theory Their counterparts Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki were in a relationship during the early years of the sitcom. Interestingly, although this didn’t last long and the two decided to become friends again in the spring of 2010, there was a notable increase in their intimate scenes on the show.
For a while, Cuoco and Galecki felt that the increase in their sex scenes after the real-life split was showrunner Chuck Lorre’s way of having fun, which TBBT Creator flatly denied it.
Chuck Lorre had no intention of messing with Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki
Although Cuoco and Galecki are closer than ever, the significant increase in sex scenes between Penny and Leonard following their breakup led Kaley Cuoco to believe that Lorre was messing with them.
When the showrunner later addressed the humorous allegations, he clarified that this was not the case, stressing that there was no place for such actions and their only goal was to make the show great.
No. Not at all. There’s no room in a good show for screwing anyone over. There’s no “Let’s screw Kaley and Johnny.” The goal was to make a great show and make every minute of every episode count. And that was the only goal. We don’t have the freedom to risk a TV show that you put your heart and soul into to screw someone over. No.
Reaction to the TBBT In response to the creator’s claim, Johnny Galecki joked “I guess it was pretty selfish of us to think that”and emphasized that he would sleep peacefully that night.
Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Cuoco had trouble filming their breakup scene on screen
But while filming the numerous intimate scenes after their breakup was a little upsetting for the actors, it was Penny and Leonard’s on-screen breakup that took a lot out of them. Nikki Lorre, who worked as a director, screenwriter and second unit director on TBBTrecalled that Cuoco and Galecki were devastated by the initial separation of their characters during filming, as they felt the writers “have read too much into their own relationship”.
For one of the first episodes that Anthony Rich directed, they wrote a scene where Penny and Leonard break up. The scene took place in the laundry room. It was really difficult for Johnny and Kaley because they (the writers) felt like they were reading too much into their own relationship and the words didn’t do justice to Leonard and Penny’s relationship.
However, after the writers assured them that this was not the case, the two shot the difficult scene without losing their composure.
The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Max.
