Texas A&M’s Donovan Green secures a spot on the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award

Texas A&M’s Donovan Green was named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, which is given annually to the most outstanding college tight end.

Green started four of the 10 games he appeared in in 2022 before sitting out the 2023 season after suffering an ACL injury in fall training camp. As a freshman, he averaged 10.6 yards per pass reception, totaled 22 catches for 233 yards and recorded a touchdown catch against Alabama and LSU. The Dickinson, Texas, native finished his rookie season with a catch in nine consecutive games. He was named to the College Football News Freshman All-America Honorable Mention Team and won the Aggie Offense Top Newcomer Award at the team’s annual banquet in 2022.

Established in 2000 by the Nassau County Sports Commission, the award is given to the tight end who best exemplifies the play, sportsmanship, academic achievement and community values ​​of Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey. The award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.

The John Mackey Preseason Watch List will be narrowed down to eight semifinalists on October 29, while three finalists will be announced on November 26. The winner of the 2024 John Mackey Award will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12.
