Former Colorado player involved in altercation with United Airlines staff at LAX airport

Matt McChesney is the latest former NFL player to target United Airlines. The former Colorado star described a series of altercations during a layover at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday.

According to McChesney, it all started when his flight to LAX was delayed by 90 minutes due to a disruption, which forced him to rush to catch his connecting flight. McChesney and his son were not allowed to board the flight to Hawaii and were rebooked on another flight operated by United’s partner Hawaiian Airlines, which was at a gate “four miles” away from the original.

When McChesney arrived at the gate, he said the argument took a new turn.

“We got there and the (gate agent) literally turned her back on us and slammed the door in our faces,” McChesney said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). “And then the other damn bitch at the counter pulled out her phone and started recording me because I asked her, ‘Hey, what’s going on here? Why aren’t you guys helping us?'”

Deion Sanders on adversity: “I am not a silent target for the enemy to shoot at”

McChesney says the gate agent threatened to call the police. He responded, “Fuck you, bitch. Call the police.” He paused before saying, in the style of rapper Eminem, “I would kill you and that loud barking dog.” McChesney added that he eventually reached his final destination, but claims United lost his luggage in the process.

United Airlines issued a statement to SI saying, “We have contacted the customer and returned his baggage today.” However, they declined to comment on the situation at this time.

Deion Sanders says at least seven Colorado players have NFL potential next year

McChesney’s altercation came a month after Pro Football Hall of Fame member Terrell Davis was arrested and escorted off a United flight on July 13 following a crew incident. The legendary Denver Broncos running back was initially placed on the no-fly list, but was later removed from the list after an internal investigation found no wrongdoing by Davis.

As owner of Six Zero Academy, McChesney has worked with several notable NFL offensive linemen at his training facility in Denver. The Colorado graduate was a guest speaker at the program this preseason and interviewed Deion Sanders for his podcast.

The All-Colorado prospect from Niwot played under Gary Barnett at CU in the early 2000s. McChesney had a six-year career in the NFL after going undrafted in 2005. He announced his retirement from the league after a freak golf accident in April 2010.
