Pink has been selected for a closing appearance at the Democratic National Convention, a source familiar with the plans told CNN.

Pink will perform Thursday night, the source said, before Vice President Kamala Harris takes the stage for the most significant speech of her political career.

Another source told CNN that John Legend will be the featured musician on Wednesday and will take the stage before Governor Tim Walz’s speech.

CNN has contacted representatives for Pink and Legend.

A DNC spokesperson did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

For Pink, who has been outspoken about issues close to her heart throughout her career, it will be her first major appearance with a political background.

Pink has long been an advocate for the LGBTQ community and women’s rights, and supports organizations that support Democratic causes, including Planned Parenthood, the Human Rights Campaign, and others.

In 2022, the pop superstar released a music video for her song “Irrelevant,” which addresses racism and sexism in America. The video features imagery reflecting reproductive healthcare, civil rights, and racial tensions. In the song, Pink sings, “Girls just want to have rights. So why do we have to fight?”

Pink has made it clear that she believes artists should remain silent about their personal political views, even if they attract criticism. When the Roe v. Wade ruling was overturned, the successful artist spoke out on social media.

“Let me be clear: If you believe that government belongs in a woman’s womb, in business, or gay marriage, or that racism is OK – THEN PLEASE, IN THE NAME OF YOUR LORD, NEVER FUCKING LISTEN TO MY MUSIC AGAIN,” the singer wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in June 2022. At the same time, she also posted about the “total insanity, hypocrisy and ignorance of the GOP,” writing, “Good will triumph over evil.”

In 2023, Pink partnered with PEN America, a free speech organization, to give away thousands of banned books at her concerts in Florida, saying that free speech and the rights of the LGBTQ community were under attack. “I read banned books!” Pink said in an Instagram Live with the nonprofit in November 2023.

Legend is no newbie to politics either. A longtime Hollywood supporter of the Democratic Party, he has been an avid supporter of President Joe Biden throughout his term in office and endorsed Vice President Harris. In a recent interview, Legend said his daughter Luna, who is black and Asian, sees herself in Harris.

Legend, who was already on hand at the DNC in Chicago this week and headlined a show for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, also performed at former President Barack Obama’s 2008 convention and at the 2020 DNC for Biden.
