John Cena announces he will stay with WWE after his retirement in 2025

John Cena has done everything he can do as a WWE performer.

He cemented his position as the face of the company during WWE’s PG era, becoming a 16-time world champion, brand ambassador, and coveted idol for children around the world. He is also the rare performer to have worked exclusively for WWE his entire career.

Cena has since been an active actor in film and television projects such as Suicide Squad, The Peacemakerand recently the Prime Video action comedy jackpot. He still makes the occasional appearance in a television segment or random tag match, but has largely disappeared from the WWE spotlight since early 2019.

In 2025, Cena will finally have his swan song, with 40 dates scheduled throughout the calendar year. But that will only be the end of his in-ring career with WWE. Beyond that, could we see John Cena as a WWE manager?

In an interview on 20 August in Club Shay Shay In a podcast, Cena announced that he had signed a contract extension beyond his farewell tour in 2025 for the “near, medium and long term future.”

Although he has not revealed any details about his WWE contract extension, we can certainly speculate.

Cena is far too busy and paid too well in Hollywood to do backstage production or other live event duties. Becoming a WWE manager would be the most sensible solution.

And with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joining the board of TKO (WWE’s parent company) in January, could Cena serve as a liaison between WWE and TKO under the watchful eye (eyebrow) of The Brahma Bull?

We’ll just have to wait and see. Or not. Because, you know, it’s John Cena.
