“Tell your mom to tell you about the piano… Ask her how the pictures got on it.” Netflix has just released the first official trailer for a movie titled The piano lessonan adaptation of the August Wilson Play made by the entire Washington family. It is produced by Denzel Washington, starring his son John David Washington, and directed by his other son Malcolm Washington, making his feature film directorial debut. It is set to be released in limited theaters this fall before streaming on Netflix in late November. The story follows the lives of the Charles family as they grapple with issues of family legacy and more, and decide what to do with an heirloom, the family piano. Based on August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, this explores the generational dynamics of identity, resilience and transcendence — and reveals surprising truths about how we perceive the past and who gets to define our legacy. Featuring an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Beanwith Danielle Deadwyler And Corey Hawkins. Yes, it looks damn good – a very unique trailer at that, incredibly intense with literally a few cut scenes in the middle.

An adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, The Piano Lesson explores the generational dynamics of identity, resilience, and transcendence — uncovering terrifying truths about how we perceive the past and who gets to determine our legacy. A battle is brewing in the Charles household, centered on a valuable heirloom piano that is tearing the two siblings apart. On one side, a brother (John David Washington) plans to increase the family fortune by selling it. On the other, a sister (Danielle Deadwyler) is willing to do anything to preserve the only remnant of the family legacy. Their uncle (Samuel Jackson) tries to mediate, but even he can’t hold back the ghosts of the past. The piano lesson Directed by the young American director Malcolm WashingtonDenzel Washington’s son, makes his directorial debut after previously directing a short film. The screenplay is by Virgil Williams and Malcolm Washington, adapted from the play of the same name by August Wilson. Produced by Todd Black and Denzel Washington. With music by Alexandre Desplat. Netflix will debut The piano lesson in selected US cinemas on 8 November 2024then streaming on Netflix starting 22 November just before Thanksgiving this fall. Looks good?
