Unused mash-up variant of Deadpool and Wolverine title characters revealed in concept art

Unused mash-up variant of Deadpool and Wolverine title characters revealed in concept art

Deadpool and Wolverine made the most of the MCU’s multiverse with a variety of special guests as well as variations on the title characters. Submitted concept art for the film suggested another variation that would have paired Deadpool and Wolverine together, and while it wasn’t used, the artwork shows what “Wolverinepool” would have looked like if he had pulled it off.

On Instagram, concept artist David Masson shared some of the artwork for Pitched Deadpool and Wolverine Variant designs. One of the rejected designs was a version of Deadpool and Wolverine that combined traits from both characters. Masson noted in the caption that the design “unfortunately didn’t make it,” and also suggested possible names for the variant, such as Wolverinepool, Wolverpool and DeadverineYou can take a look at the mashup version below.

Another unused variant design was revealed by Masson. Called Punkpool, this character blended the look of Spider-Punk, voiced by Daniel Kaluuya in Spider-Vers franchise, with Wade Wilson’s Deadpool costume. It’s another fun concept that would have been interesting on the big screen, although space was limited to include so many of them. There were also alternate Logan ideas that didn’t make it into the film, such as a suggestion to include Danny DeVito as a smaller variant of Wolverine.

Since the film was such a success, there seems to be an opportunity for Marvel Studios to further explore the multiverse. Along with the upcoming avenger Sequels, there’s a chance Deadpool could get a fourth film, maybe even starring Wolverine again. As the MCU continues to explore its multiverse, there’s no telling what other variants might emerge in the future, meaning ideas like Deadpool-Verine could see the light of day.
