Happy birthday to the one and only Princess Anne who turns 74 today!
To celebrate the special occasion, the Princess Royal’s older brother, King Charles (who is still undergoing cancer treatment), posted a collage of photos of himself and his sister to the royal family’s Instagram story. “Happy birthday to the Princess Royal (birthday cake emoji),” the monarch captioned the post.
An old photograph shows a young Prince Charles and Princess Anne sitting side by side on the floor, with the future king (who looks no older than ten) beaming next to his younger sister, who is smiling broadly in a frilly dress.

The third photo was taken in June 2023, when King Charles and Princess Anne presented the Blues and Royals with the new King’s Standard during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The brother-sister duo were photographed together in traditional military dress, with a blue sash and a series of ceremonial medals embroidered on the front of the jacket.
But it was the second photo in the collage that immediately caught my attention; it was taken during Princess Anne’s appearance at the Not Forgotten Association’s garden party a few months ago.
But why is this photo so special? When she smiles, the princess looks so much like her late mother, Queen Elizabeth. The hardest-working royal truly embodied the late monarch as she interacted with guests and moved with such grace and elegance as her mother once did. Check out an example below:
