One Well Brewing in Kalamazoo celebrates 10th anniversary with street party

To celebrate a decade of beer, food and community space, One Well Brewing in Kalamazoo has announced they will be hosting a street festival next month.

The brewery is teaming up with Sounds of the Zoo and other local partners to host the “One Well Block Party” on Saturday, Sept. 14, organizers said.

The event features live music from Michigan, a carnival, plenty of food, a first-ever taco-eating contest hosted by Taco Bob’s, and various activities for kids.

Of course there will also be beer.

“Ten years is an exciting thing! When we started, we really had no idea what to expect,” said Chris O’Neill, owner of One Well. “We knew we wanted to brew good beer and create a place where people would enjoy spending time, but we couldn’t have anticipated all the twists and turns that have taken place over the past decade. Multiple expansions, a kitchen that produces quality food that we’re really proud of – it’s just really exciting to celebrate ten years with the great local community that brought us here.”

A carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. kicks off the party, followed by the first-ever “Bob’s Taco Eating Contest” at 1 p.m.

Cornhole, ice cream, arts and crafts and the Kalamazoo Growlers mascot, Porter, can be found during the carnival, organizers said.

Live music from the following four Michigan bands begins at 3:00 p.m. in the following order:

  • Zero Sun from Kalamazoo
  • The Nathan Moore affair from Kalamazoo
  • Hannah Rose Graves from Grand Rapids
  • Chirp from Ann Arbor

One Well first opened its doors on Black Friday in 2014.
