Woman jailed for trying to share an all-you-can-eat meal with the entire table

All-you-can-eat meals are very popular because you get more for less. However, one such meal landed a woman in the US in jail after she tried to share it with her entire table. Shawneesha Cobbs went to Applebee’s with two other adults and several young children and ordered the all-you-can-eat menu. When the bill came, there was a huge outcry.

According to the New York Post, Cobbs went to eat boneless buffalo wings in Portage, Indiana, on August 2. Her group ordered an “all you can eat” deal and divided it among themselves, according to the report.

The dish, which costs $15.99, had only been added to the menu a few days ago, on July 29. It includes endless amounts of boneless chicken wings, ribs, double-crunch shrimp and fries. Cobbs and her group stuffed themselves with the food. However, when the bill came, the manager came to their table and said that each of them would be charged for a meal.

Cobbs and her group began yelling about it, and police had to be called. Dispatchers warned officers that there were “several women screaming” at the scene and “threatening people.”

According to the police report, Cobbs and her group were not happy with the bill and argued with staff that they were only paying $16 for the entire meal. They also argued that nowhere did it say that the food could not be shared. However, things started to falter for Cobbs when police saw “per person” in bold letters right under the “all you can eat” heading.

While the rest of the group seemed to calm down after police intervened, Cobbs became increasingly angry and began attacking another couple inside the outlet. Her friend told her to stop, but despite repeated attempts by police and her friend, Cobbs continued to rage. She was eventually arrested and taken to the Porter County Jail.

The disturbance at the restaurant not only cost Cobbs her freedom, she now faces a hefty fine. Not only did the group pay the entire bill, but Cobbs also faces a maximum sentence of 180 days behind bars and a $1,000 fine.
