Deadpool & Wolverine had a Wolverine pool that was scrapped

Deadpool & Wolverine had a Wolverine pool that was scrapped

Deadpool and Wolverine has grossed over $1.14 billion at the box office since its release in late July and continues to delight audiences. In case you’re wondering, it’s worth rewatching the film in theaters. A second or third time around will allow you to pay attention to all sorts of interesting details, now that you know all the surprises.

What you won’t get in this final version Deadpool 3 is a Wolverinepool superhero concept. This variant did not make it into the film. This character combines the best parts of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in a single figure.

Luckily, one of the designers working on Marvel’s big R-rated movie shared the concept art for Wolverinepool on Instagram, and it’s absolutely brilliant. If you haven’t seen it yet Deadpool and WolverineThe concept art will not reveal anything about the film’s plot.

I will explain to you why Deadpool 3 couldn’t have included a Wolverinepool concept, as cool as it may look. Expect plot spoilers below.

Artist David Masson shared Wolverinepool in the following post on Instagram. It’s almost the same suit that Deadpool wears in the movie, with a few obvious changes. First, the figure wears the iconic Wolverine mask. He also has adamantium claws, just like Wolverine. This means that this Wolvie(Pool?) variant doesn’t use katanas or firearms.

I’m not lying. I would have loved to see this Wolverine/Deadpool mashup in the movie. It would have been so great to see what combination we got. Who would voice the character, Reynolds or Jackman? Would he be a big-mouthed Merc or a gruff Logan type? What about his face?

Imagine Jackman making nasty jokes as Wolverinepool. But of course that is not possible in Deadpool and WolverineThe film already features an amazing cameo by Chris Evans. The dirty monologue that Johnny Storm delivers in the Deadpool 3 The end credits scene is absolutely fantastic.

Then Reynolds, who voices a gruff version of Wolverine, could perhaps be a little more serious, but then all the Deadpool magic would be lost.

The real reason you can’t have Wolverinepool Deadpool 3 concerns the plot of the film. First, there is a scene at the beginning of the film where Deadpool uses Wolverine’s adamantium bones to kill a group of TVA soldiers. Right at the end of this intro, he also equips the claws and uses them for a nasty killing sequence.

Even more important is the final battle of Deadpool and Wolverine In “The Void,” the two protagonists face off against an army of Deadpools from the Void. This scene marks the first time we see Logan wearing Wolverine’s iconic mask in a movie. I waited for this moment throughout the entire movie, but then completely forgot about it, and was amazed at its genius when it happened.

You can’t ruin that by showing a Wolverinepool at some point in the film because the character would have to wear the Wolverine mask. And you can’t have Wolverinepool appear in the crowd of Deadpools because you can’t make him stand out.

Let’s also remember that there is no Wolverine in the Void. This is a huge plot detail. This is why the villain is willing to entertain Wolverine for so long and fall into his trap. With a Wolverine pool in the Void, she would have at least half a version of Wolverine at her disposal.

Still, anything can happen now that Deadpool and Wolverine are both in the MCU. We are in the multiverse and we will surely see Wade and Logan join the Avengers to fight Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
