John Robert Coy (Hoppy), age 67, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on May 13, 1957 in Dundee, Florida, to the late Mae Lizzie (Tomlin) and Robert James Coy.
John attended Haines City High School in Haines City, Florida.
John enjoyed attending his church, Unity In Christ, where he served as a deacon and council member and directed the men’s choir.
His professional experience includes waste management in Greencastle, PA, the Chambersburg School District, and his retirement from the Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a contractor.
John enjoyed watching old westerns, being a wrestling and football fan (he was a huge Steeler fan), gardening, fishing, and golfing. He volunteered for several years as a youth football coach for Maranatha Ministries and was available to help anyone else who needed a volunteer.
John also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his three granddaughters, Luciana, Sydney and LaVeah, and his five bonus grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Yolanda (Calloway) Coy, children, James (Tanya) of Chambersburg, PA, Quinn (Joseph) of Sicklerville, NJ, Damien (Miranda) of Chambersburg, PA, a sister, Joanne Coy of Lake Alfred, FL, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, cousins, godchildren and many friends.
In addition to his parents, his sisters Norma Coy and Patricia Ann Coy-Ellison of Florida will also be present in death.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the Church of Unity in Christ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lois Waters.
A viewing will take place one hour before the service. in the church.
The burial will take place in Name of the cemetery.
