Humane Society Hosts 10th Annual Clear the Shelters Event • Latest Releases

On August 24, the Humane Society for Hamilton County at 10501 Hague Road in Fishers will be holding its 10th annual Clear the Shelters adoption event from noon to 5 p.m. The shelter has more than 600 animals in its care that need rescuing.

Most adoptions are $10 in celebration of Clear the Shelters’ 10th anniversary. All adoptions include a free month’s supply of preventatives, spay/neuter, microchip, one round of age-appropriate vaccinations/worming, a health exam with a participating veterinarian, and a starter bag of food. Additionally, the first 50 adopters will receive a free gift bag.

“On August 24, the stakes are high. Our shelter has been overwhelmed for nearly two years, length of stay has skyrocketed, and every day these animals wait is a day too long,” said Lily Darling, HSHC Community Engagement Manager. “Just because we don’t give up on these animals doesn’t mean they won’t give up on themselves. We desperately need the community’s help to give these animals in need a loving home. Time is running out, and they can’t afford to wait any longer.”

Adoption guidelines for August 24th:

  • If you have one or more dogs, bring them along to meet a dog you can adopt.
  • All persons living in the household must meet the animal.
  • If you rent or lease, bring your pet insurance with you.
  • An official ID must be presented.

Those interested in adopting or caring for a cat or dog can fill out an application in advance at hshcadoptions.com.
