A Pokemon Fan has created four new fusions that combine Gengar with other Pokémon. The unique designs are being praised by the community for their creativity and the idea of what it would be like if these Gengar were in an actual Pokemon Game.

Pokemon Fusions seem to be more popular than ever. This type of fanart involves fans taking two Pokémon and combining them into a cohesive creature that has the characteristics of both parts. Part of the fun is combining Pokémon that make perfect sense together, or two that seemingly have nothing in common but work together when fused. While taking two random Pokémon and putting them together in this way has never been an aspect of the official titles, it’s still a concept that many fans enjoy.

Now, Pokemon Fan and artist Versiris has shared his four Gengar fusions with the world. The four are called Trapped Soul, Patchwork Puppet, Mummy’s Curse, and Candle Wick, and combine Gengar with Spiritomb, Banette, Cofagrigus, and Litwick. Trapped Soul gives Gengar the same color and pattern as Spiritomb, and appears to be attached to a rock just like its counterpart. Patchwork Puppet looks similar to a Banette costume that Gengar wears in Pokémon GOwhich was intended by the artist. Mummy’s Curse includes the ancient Egyptian-style headdress that’s part of the sarcophagus-like Cofagrigus design, and Candle Wick looks like a partially melted Gengar candle with the same eye hidden inside as Litwick.

Gengar fusions delight fans

Pokemon Fans loved the designs and received compliments from several users. Some noted that while there were similarities between Versiris’ Patchwork Puppet and Pokémon GOBanette/Gengar design, some prefer the design of Versiris. Others were excited by the prospect of typing some of these, like the idea of Gengar becoming a Ghost/Fire type. It was also suggested that these would work well in the fan game Pokemon Infinite Fusion, should the user want to do so.

With Gengar’s continued popularity among Pokemon fans and the spooky holiday season is upon us, there’s hardly a better time to share creations like this one. Gengar has received a lot of attention from the official game developers, receiving a Gigantamax version as well as a Mega Evolution over the years. While these designs remain in the realm of fan creations, it will be interesting to see if Gengar receives any more updates in the future as one of the most memorable Pokémon and original Ghost-types of the first generation.
