The 4th annual North Country Arts Festival begins next week

POTSDAM, N.Y. (WWNY) – The North Country Arts Festival is coming to St. Lawrence County next week.

For the fourth year, the SLC Arts Council is hosting its statewide celebration of arts, culture and community.

The celebrations begin on Wednesday, August 28th and last until Sunday, September 1st.

The program planned throughout St. Lawrence County includes a poetry slam, an art exhibition, a comedy night, concerts, an art market and more.

Schedule:

Wednesday, August 28 – Poetry Slam at the Russell Opera House (4 Pestle Street, Russell, NY) from 6-8 p.m. You can watch or join in. Participants can register by Monday at slcartscouncil.org/nocoartsfest.

Thursday, August 29 – Plein Air Showcase at the Old Waddington Town Hall (38 Main Street, Waddington, NY) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The art show features adult and children’s art from across St. Lawrence County. Artists can submit their work on the website linked above.

Friday, August 30th – Stand Up Comedy Night at the Massena Elks Lodge (20 Bowers Street, Massena, NY) from 6pm to 10pm. The event costs $55 per person and is for ages 21 and older. The show features the comedy group Aboriginal Outlaws.

Saturday, August 31 – Verandafest in Potsdam’s residential area from 12pm to 5pm. Live musicians perform on porches throughout the area.

The Ives Park Concert Series at the Ives Park Gazebo in Potsdam takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. In a new tradition, the Ives Park Concert Series ends with a punk show with Sunflo’er and friends. Immediately afterwards there is a free film screening of “The Mighty Ducks” in the Farmer’s Market Pavilion in the park.

Sunday, September 1st – Art Market & Arts Wellness Workshops at the Ives Park Pavilion in Potsdam from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
