Kirk Cousins chose practice music on his 36th birthday and his playlist rocks

Kirk Cousins turned 36 on Monday.

His gift from the Falcons? He was allowed to choose the music at practice.

Atlanta shared the playlist on social media later in the day, and while it certainly includes many of what the kids called “bangers,” it’s safe to say the music is a bit different than what’s typically played during an NFL practice.

It seems that the former Michigan State University star is still in his emo era in 2024.

Cousins, who was born in 1988 and grew up in Holland, is clearly a child of the 90s and 2000s, as most of the tracks on the playlist are hits from an era when punk rock, alternative rock and punk pop were mainstream.

Bands like “Good Charlote”, “blink 182”, “Fall Out Boy”, “Jimmy Eat World”, “The Killers”, “Green Day” and “Yellowcard” are included.

And even though most of the tracks are older, comments on the post were mostly positive, with one calling it a “Hall of Fame playlist” and others saying Cousins ”gets the vibe right.”

Others noticed the absence of rap and hip-hop from the list, and still others said the playlist was exactly what they expected from Cousins, who is widely known for his down-to-earth demeanor and dad-vibes-filled wardrobe curated by his wife.

Cousins had a career start in 2023, but his season was ended early due to a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in October.

In March, he signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons, ending a six-year career with the Vikings in which he made the playoffs twice, the Pro Bowl three times, and passed for more than 23,000 yards and 171 touchdowns.
