On Monday, August 19, actress Alicia Silverstone offered her fans on TikTok a glimpse into her recent trip to England. In the clip Clueless The star is seen snacking on a tomato-like fruit, which caused concern among her fans.

Fans are concerned after Alicia Silverstone allegedly ate a Jerusalem cherry.

In the video, Alicia tells her followers: “I just discovered something and I don’t know what it is and I need your help.” She then holds the fruit up to the camera and explains: “I just bit into it because it was lying on the street and we were debating whether it was a tomato or not.”

Alicia is quick to clarify that it is “definitely not” a tomato, pointing out the plant’s distinctive leaves as she pans the camera for a better view.

As she bites into the tomato-like fruit once more, Babysitters Club Star admits she wasn’t sure whether to eat it and describes the taste as peppery.

Although the video was posted less than a day ago, it has already been viewed over 1.4 million times. In the comments, there is a lot of speculation about the identity of the plant. Many suspect that it could be a Jerusalem cherry.

“Jerusalem artichokes… they are actually poisonous berries,” wrote one TikTok user. “Hope you’re well!”

Another fan urged Alicia to give an update: “WOMAN! GIVE US AN UPDATE. ARE YOU ALIVE AND OK!?!”

According to the North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox, the Jerusalem cherry (also known as Solanum pseudocapsicum) is a member of the nightshade family, which also includes tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and eggplants. However, this plant is not edible because it is “highly toxic” to children, humans, cats, dogs, and horses.
