John Aprea, an actor with a wide range of roles, has died at the age of 83. His death was confirmed by his manager Will Levine. Aprea was born in 1941 to a family that had immigrated from Italy. He moved between various careers in his early years, but only later decided to pursue acting, even after spending some time in college.
His first film appearance is Bullitt, Peter Yates directed the film. He then appeared in an episode of This girl, He built a career that saw him appear on both the big screen and on television. During his career he appeared in several major films, including Candidate of Fear, New Jack City, and especially The Godfather – Part II.
Aprea’s extensive television appearances include an appearance in The A-Team, The Fall Guy, Court at Night, Under the California Sun, and many others. However, one of his most notable TV roles is that of the recurring character Nick Katsopilis in Full house, the father of Jesse Katsopilis (John Stamos) and grandfather of the Tanner children.
As Deadline reports, Paul Carafotes, one of Aprea’s cast mates in Knot landing, talked about his death and mentioned how much they laughed together on the set of the show. “Many will miss this man! Rest in peace, old friend. See you on the other side,” he said.
Deadline also pointed out that his death was a natural death and that he died in the presence of his family.
