A “colorful pop art garden” recently blossomed at the ifc in Lujiazui.
The exhibition is jointly presented by ifc and illo Design Studio, a renowned studio specializing in motion design, illustration and art direction, and features a collection of sculptures with simple shapes, bright colors and gentle curves in the mall’s atrium.
Cartoon-like figures rest, hold objects, lounge on air cushions or generally go about their daily lives, reminding the viewer of children’s building blocks. These and other factors give the atmosphere a youthful sparkle – pleasant and relaxed.
The unconventional design that illo Design Studio mainly uses consists of bright colors, a mix of shapes and a spacious layout.
Led by creative duo Illenia Notarangelo and Luca Gonnelli, Illo Design Studio aims for a minimalist yet colorful aesthetic with a clear narrative mode.
With an international team of 17 employees, illo has worked for innovative startups and major brands such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Bloomberg and Snapchat.
This is the first time that ifc is exhibiting creative sculptures.
The “Colorful Pop Art Garden” is 15 meters long and 4 meters high and creates a relaxation area where visitors can walk around the simple sculptures, watch an animated film, laugh at the images reflected by distorting mirrors or join an interactive games area.
