It’s that time of year again: The Santa Barbara area and our neighbors in Ojai are hosting the annual Studio Artist Tours. Proceeds from ticket sales for both tours will benefit a charity they are supporting this year. The artist tours and their respective kick-off parties are an all-ages event. The tours are self-guided and come with maps and brief information about each artist so you can choose the ones you want to visit. It’s an opportunity to visit the artists in their studios, watch them at work, ask questions, and purchase work directly from them.
The official opening party for the Ojai Studio Artists (OSA) Tour will take place on August 16th at the Ojai Valley Museum from 5-7pm. A work by each OSA artist member will be on display, plus there will be a meet and greet with the artists, refreshments, and more. The opening exhibition is titled Inside Outside Back. The event is free.
On August 25th, a panel discussion with the exhibition Ojai Studio Artists will take place at the Ojai Valley Museum from 4 to 6 p.m. Inside Outside Back. OSA President and Artist Linda Taylor with OSA founder and artist Gayel Childress andOSA artists Bernadette DiPietro will discuss the origins of OSA, Christopher Noxon will moderate the panel. Donation: $5.
The kickoff reception and art preview for the 23rd annual Santa Barbara Studio Artists Tour will take place on August 30th from 5-8 p.m. at the Community Arts Workshop in Santa Barbara. This year, the SBSA tour benefits the Grace Fisher Foundation. One of Fisher’s oil paintings will be on display at the reception. The foundation is dedicated to improving educational accessibility and promoting inclusive arts. In their press release Fisherman said, “We are thrilled and honored to be a part of the Open Studio Tour this year. This event not only celebrates the incredible talents of our community, but also helps advance our mission of making the arts accessible to all, regardless of ability.”

October 12-14 is the Ojai Studio Artists Tour, featuring over 70 OSA artists in their studios throughout Ojai open to all ages. Art includes paintings, sculpture, textile art, collage, jewelry, glass, prints, mixed media and all types of artwork. Traditionally, proceeds from OSA Studio Artist tickets go toward OSA scholarships for art programs for Nordhoff High School art students.
