Oklahoma company supports OU technology, energy and business | News

Williams, an Oklahoma-based energy company, made a generous gift to the University of Oklahoma to support the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy, the Gallogly College of Engineering and the Price College of Business.

“With this donation to the University of Oklahoma, a respected leader in energy and related emerging technology education, Williams is investing in the workforce of tomorrow,” wrote Alan Armstrong, Williams President and CEO. in a press release.

The Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy receives a donation of around $500,000 for its new Programme for sustainable energy systemsthe one new degree program in geoenergy engineering.

The Gallogly College of Engineering will receive $680,000 to fund mentoring and development programs, including Technical catalyst Program and the Wayfinding Program. These programs focus on providing support and community to Gallogly students.

“This remarkable donation adds numerous resources to engineering students and provides them with important academic and community support that is sometimes the only thing separating a student from deciding not to return to college,” John Klier, dean of the Gallogly College of Engineering, wrote in the press release.

The donation of $320,000 to the Price College of Business supports the Dean’s lecture series, The JCPenney Leadership Programthe Center for Management Information Systems Studies and other programs that provide students with the opportunity to network and expand their industry knowledge to be better prepared for their future careers.

“Williams has had a tremendous impact on our students here at OU, where her donation will have far-reaching effects and impact countless students for years to come,” wrote OU Senior Vice President and Provost André-Denis Wright in the press release“As OU’s student population grows, the support of key partners like Williams allows us to expand our programs to the Norman and Tulsa campuses and provide our students with the best that OU has to offer.”
