The fate of BH Airlines
BH Airlines is the successor to the original BH airline Air Bosna, which was founded in 1994. The company offered scheduled and charter flights to various destinations in Europe. However, poor business performance and high losses slowly led to the collapse of the only state-owned airline.
After tranches to ensure its survival, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided in June 2015 to close BH Airlines, which at that time had debts of US$17 million. The last commercial flight took place on June 11, 2015.
Workers lost their jobs. Bankruptcy proceedings were opened on September 28, 2016. The company had about 100 employees, of whom 26 are now employed at Sarajevo Airport, 41 were awaiting bankruptcy, and the rest went to work outside Bosnia and Herzegovina.
